Visits with the Volunteers
An Interview with Cathy Fouts
All of our volunteers keep Pregnancy Resources running smoothly. Cathy Fouts, grandmother of 14, has been volunteering at Pregnancy Resources for over seven years. Cathy said she got involved with us when one of her students asked her to sponsor her in our “Walk for Life.” After this, Cathy began making regular donations. After she retired from teaching, Cathy wanted to see how her donations were being used so she signed up for the Volunteer Training Program.
Cathy now teaches Smart Start classes at the Moline Center on Thursday afternoons. She enjoys the fellowship of the other volunteers and staff. She helps new parents learn how to pass God’s unconditional love on to their own children. Cathy likes being part of the Pregnancy Resources family.
At the Center, Cathy also witnesses the fear of those who have believed the lies of the world and are suffering. She has the privilege of speaking God’s love and truth into their lives. She reminds women that they are precious daughters of a powerful King who gave them life, loves them unconditionally, and has a plan for their lives filled with hope. Cathy feels that Pregnancy Resources is ultimately a healing ministry.
Cathy loves volunteering at Pregnancy Resources. Although passing God’s love and mercy on to others brings her great joy, she receives love and understanding from those who come into the center as well. She feels that we support each other. Besides, she sometimes gets to hold precious babies and get that “baby fix” that grandmas long for.
Pregnancy Resources is always in need of new volunteers. Cathy encourages anyone who is thinking about volunteering to, “Just do it! Even if you discover that you are not called to be a volunteer, the training was excellent.”
